Aloha from Hawaii - I have been on the Big Island for almost two weeks now.
During the first days I had to get used to the new time zone and the climate conditions. The sweat is already running down while strolling along the promenade. The first training sessions were a bit slow after the travel stress and the unfamiliar conditions. Therefore, it was difficult for me to imagine that in a few days I will complete a full Ironman in these conditions. However, I felt better day by day, familiarized myself with the race course and now feel very well prepared to compete on Thursday.
The swim workouts in the ocean have been one of the highlights so far. Many colorful fish and even dolphins could be seen during the trainings. The cycling on the Queen K Highway is rather monotonous - always straight ahead in the blazing sun and with a lot of traffic.
In the last days before the race it's now time to relax and fill up the tanks.
You can follow my race in the Ironman App. You can search my name (category M25-29, no. 2618), so you can see my split times and placements. My start time is 07:40 am (07:40 pm Swiss time) on October 6th.
